SIMPLE HAND AND NAIL CARE
50SPEND MORE TIME WITH YOUR HANDS AND NAILS
NAILS;
The way your hands and nails look reflects your lifestyle and age. Busy hands and nails should be groomed on a regular basis or else they will look worse and become weak and damaged.
I have tried all sorts of ways to take care of my nails and finally I know how.
Here are a few simple and easy to follow tips that I have learnt:
DAILY
- You should keep them clean by gently scrubbing them with a nail brush,
- Keep them neat by trimming or filing
- Keep them at the same length by cutting back.
ONCE A WEEK
- You should file any growth to keep your nails well shaped and strong,
- Buff them to remove any ridges,
- Gently ease back the cuticles after a bath,
- Paint them with a protective coat of colorless nail polish and or if you like color apply two thin coats and leave each to dry completely then finish off with a colorless coat.
ONCE A MONTH
- You should give your nails a treat with a professional manicure or pedicure or you can do it yourself by spending a little extra time caring for your nails.
HANDS;
Keep in mind that skin irritations may seem minor, but they can turn into a major problem if left untreated. Most of us ignore cracked or red itchy sore hands.
Are your hands always in and out of water everyday for the whole day?
Does your work involve use of chemicals that irritate your skin e.g. harsh washing powders and detergents, hair coloring treatment, perming lotions and bleach?
If your answer is yes then let me warn you that you might be at risk of getting dermatitis.
Prevention is better than cure;
- Make sure you use gloves for protection.
- Moisturize your hands constantly.
- Use gentle soaps and avoid harsh ones.
- Apply a thick layer of petroleum jelly on your hands before you begin work; it acts as a barrier cream.
Take action before your hands get sore and before your nails get damaged.
Thank you for reading. God bless you.
